A New Purpose: Ringsling to Desk Redo

11 Sep

Before Liezel was born, I purchased a used ringsling online.  Unfortunately, when it came, there were defects in the fabric (small holes, not safe) and industrial rings instead of those that were made for babywearing.  This things were not disclosed in the purchase, so I immediately talked to the seller and got a refund less shipping.  So, for five dollars, I now had a good amount of fabric in a print that I liked.  I cut the rings off, folded the fabric and saved it for a rainy day.

I wish we got those here in San Diego.

Since we don’t, I guess I was waiting for the day when a project would jump out and present itself.  I decided while sitting here at the desk that I was sick of looking at the cords that hang from the modem.  They hung directly behind the shelf that sits upon our desk and that’s just ugly to look at.  What could cover those?

A little matte board and some fabric, that’s what!

And then I made a small pillow for the chair with the leftover fabric to put in the chair next to the desk.

Not a bad fix for about $5 and 20 minutes of effort. Now to pick up that clutter…

Awesome, Misty! Funny that we did desk organizing on the same day – ha ha! I really like the pattern you used. I haven’t ventured into making pillowcases yet. Maybe someday!

I assure you, the pillow isn’t that impressive. Four straight sides and a simple seam. I mean, yeah, that’s technically a pillow, a super simple one. 🙂
